With reference to my Despatch No.
62 of the 6th. of March, I have now the honour to transmit
the enclosed report on the work of the Land Court in the
New Territories from its commencement to the present time.
2.
The issue of Crown Leases in all
cases where claims to land have been allowed has been com-
-pleted. The Supreme Court has recently given Judgment
(copy of which will be forwarded to you when printed) in
what is known as the Cheung Sha Wan Case. The Judgment is
in favour of the Crown but will, I understand, be made the
subject of appeal to the Privy Council.
3.
A Crown Rent Roll based on the
Crown Leases has been prepared and collection under it of
rent for the year 1st. July, 1904, to 30th. June, 1905,
will be begun shortly.
